Studies substantiate that a growing number of programs and interventions are using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to engage with adolescents with long- term goals to affect social and behaviour change. However, a series of consultations led by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation (Packard Foundation), brought up the fact that stakeholders in the sector face specific challenges around such interventions. It emerged that a set of guidelines would help them better implement, monitor and evaluate digital-platforms-based interventions in the sector.
This report presents a framework that can be used to plan, implement and evaluate digital-platform based interventions designed to aid Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health outcomes (ASRH). These include improved knowledge, reduced teenage pregnancies, a drop in Sexually Transmitted Infections, increased consumption of SRH services by the adolescents and a change in their behavior towards sexual and reproductive health.
While, large parts of this report and the journey framework is for organizations that will eventually implement digital platforms, the document also seeks to facilitate dialogue between different stakeholders such as implementing agencies, funding bodies and monitoring and evaluation organizations.
